The stars are coming out tonight for the 83rd annual Golden Globe awards. It’s been a tough year for Hollywood — from the January 2025 fires in Los Angeles, to artificial intelligence creeping into the industry, lackluster box office numbers, and political unrest unfolding across the nation. But that’s not stopping the biggest names from film and television from taking the red carpet ahead of the ceremony, which will be hosted for a second year in a row by comedian Nikki Glaser. Here, a gallery of the best, worst, and most surprising looks from the nominees.

Snoop Dogg hit the Golden Globes red carpet in a slick double breasted suit, with a pop of red tying his entire fit together. Snoop is presenting tonight, and his 21st album, Iz It a Crime? dropped last spring.

Hudson Williams hit the red carpet in baggy black pants and a satin cream shirt with a matching jacket, keeping the look effortless and sharp with a minimal silver necklace. The Heated Rivalry star is set to take on presenting duties later tonight.

Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami

It would only make sense for the stars behind “Golden” to show up at the 2026 Golden Globes. The singing trio behind HUNTR/X turned heads as they arrived separately on the red carpet: Rei Ami rocked a black lace dress paired with a diamond-encrusted necklace, Ejae opted for a strapless black gown with lace accents, while Audrey Nuna wore her hair in a dramatic oversized braid, her face partially covered by an elegant veil. “We never thought it would actually happen, so to break the fourth wall like this has been amazing,” Ejae told the Associated Press on the carpet of Kpop Demon Hunters, which is nominated for three awards.

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor made our jaws drop when she hit the Golden Globes red carpet. Her black toga-like gown was unassuming at first, but she pivoted around, revealing a bedazzled thong peeking out at the back of her dress. Taylor is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another.

Aimee Lou Wood

Chelsea’s lookin’ good! Aimee Lou Wood posed for photos on the red carpet in a black ball gown with a greenish-brown bodice and floral black accents. The British actress is nominated for Best Supporting Actress on Television for her fan-favorite role in The White Lotus.

Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman

The actors behind the SmartLess podcast have arrived! The trio is nominated for Best Podcast, hoping to beat competitors like Dax Sheperd’s Armchair Expert and Amy Poehler’s Good Hang in the inaugural race for this category. Outside of their SmartLess duties, Jason Bateman starred in Zootopia 2— which is nominated for Best Motion Picture – Animated — while Will Arnett and Sean Hayes appeared together in Is This Thing On?

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Owen Cooper

At just 15, Owen Cooper became the youngest male actor to win a Primetime Emmy for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in Adolescence, a devastating Netflix miniseries that chronicled how a teenage boy can fall into the manosphere, with deadly results. He arrived in a boxy, military inspired tan suit for the the Golden Globes, where he is nominated for the same performance.

Frazer Harrison/WireImage/Getty Images

Amy Madigan

Last year, Amy Madigan acquired fame among a new generation for her terrifying portrayal of Gladys in Zach Cregger’s horror film Weapons. Ditching the orange wig and funky fits, she appears tonight in a smart and dapper suit. Madigan is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, facing off against Teyana Taylor, Ariana Grande, Elle Fanning, and more.

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall

Looking stunning in a silver halter gown, the Poker Face creator and Golden Globe nominee wore her signature curly red hair pushed back from her face, posing next to her longtime friend (and costar in the 1999 lesbian classic But I’m a Cheerleader) Clea DuVall. Though Peacock didn’t renew Lyonne’s detective show for a third season, we’re excited to see what comes next — is the Lyonne-issance upon us?

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Ariana Grande

Glinda goes for glamour! Ariana Grande hit the red carpet with her hair slicked back into her signature high pony, a strand draping down the left side of her face. She wore a black, off-shoulder ball gown that hugged her perfectly, paired with sparkling diamond jewelry. Grande is once again nominated for her role as Glinda, this time in Wicked: For Good.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega is serving goth glam! The Netflix star walked the red carpet in a black dress with cutout sides in a look that nodded perfectly to the dark, edgy aesthetic of her iconic role as the Addams Family role. This is Ortega’s second nomination for her lead role in Wednesday, following her first nod in 2022.

Amy Sussman/Getty Image

Paul Mescal

Everyone’s favorite Irish heartthrob Paul Mescal has hit the red carpet in an understated yet tasteful suit. Last September, the Hamnet star graced the cover of Rolling Stone where he discussed preparing for his role as Sir Paul McCartney in The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event. Tonight though, he’s nominated for his performance as William Shakespeare in the romantic tragedy Hamnet.

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Odessa Azion

Hollywood’s newest It girl, Odessa A’zion, arrived in a gorgeous black pantsuit, complete with a feathery bodice. A’zion made a major breakthrough last year, portraying impulsive influencer Tallulah Stiel on I Love L.A. and later as Rachel Mizler in Marty SupremeMarty Supreme is up for three awards tonight, Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Timothée Chalamet).

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Charli XCX

It’s the year of film for Charli XCX, so it’s only fitting she kicked off 2026 at the Golden Globes. The singer, starring in a trio of films this year — including I Want Your SexThe Gallerist, and her own The Moment — hit the red carpet in a YSL black furry bodice adorned with an oversized bow, paired with a sleek, form-fitting white skirt. The Brat star is set to present an award tonight.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Jennifer Lawrence

J-Law was back on big screens this year in the very creepy Lynne Ramsay film Die My Love, her first time playing a mother onscreen since becoming one IRL. Her look is far from matronly, though — she showed up in a sheer, form-fitting gown with applique flowers offering her a pinch of modesty.

Monica Schipper/Getty Images

Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld looks radiant on the red carpet tonight showing off her baby bump in a flowing peach gown. The actress and her husband, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, announced she was pregnant with her first child in December. Steinfeld starred in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which is up for seven awards tonight, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, and Best Original Song.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan arrived looking sharp as ever in a brown suit and some chic shades. Jordan is nominated for his dual performances as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore in the blockbuster vampire horror film Sinners, which is also up for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Monica Schipper/Getty Images

Timothée Chalamet

Marty Mauser’s bringing the swag! Timothée Chalamet hit Sunday’s red carpet in a street-style–inspired look, rocking a velvety suit over a tee and casual boots with gold accents. His Marty Supreme nod marks his second nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, following his recognition for playing Willy Wonka in Wonka in 2023, though he’s been up for Globes five times overall. He’s also earned two Drama nods for A Complete Unknown and Call Me By Your Name.

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is here in a glitzy sequined dress looking like a rock star. Cyrus released her ninth album Something Beautiful last year, and tonight marks her third Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. This year, she is being recognized for “Dream As One” from Avatar: Fire and Ash, which she wrote and produced alongside Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.

Monica Schipper/Getty Images

Jennifer Lopez

When is Jennifer Lopez not serving? The pop diva and Kiss of the SpiderWoman star hit the red carpet in a completely sheer, form-fitting mermaid gown adorned with brown appliqués. Fresh off the buzz of her New Year’s Las Vegas residency kickoff, J.Lo is also set to present an award tonight.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos

Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos: a pairing made in heaven. On Sunday, the actor-director duo walked the red carpet together to celebrate Bugonia, nominated for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, with Stone up for Best Actress. The film marks their fourth collaboration after 2024’s Kinds of Kindness, 2023’s Poor Things, and 2018’s The Favourite. Stone dazzled in a golden-white crop top and shimmery long skirt, while Lanthimos kept it sharp in a double-breasted suit paired with a lilac shirt.

Matt Winkelmeyer/GA/The Hollywood Reporter

Glen Powell

Leading man Glen Powell hit the carpet in a royal blue velvet suit complete with a satin cumberbund. Tonight, he’s nominated for his performance in the comedy series Chad Powers, competing against Seth Rogen, Adam Brody, Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Jeremy Allen White.

JC Olivera/2026GG/Penske Media

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

Talk about a power couple! The pair, who have been married since 2013, arrived looking traditional glam, with Shepard in a slim tuxedo, and Bell wearing a black gown with a Nineties-inspired jewel-toned colorblocked bodice. This is the former Veronica Mars star’s third nomination — this is the second time she’s been nominated for her role in Nobody Wants This, and she was previously up for her turn in The Good Place — while it’s Shepard’s first, for his podcast Armchair Expert.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Chase Infiniti

Chase Infiniti stays winning: She arrived at the 83rd Golden Globes shimmering in a custom Louis Vuitton masterpiece. Infiniti made her feature film debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, and she’s nominated for her lead performance as Willa Ferguson. One Battle After Another is the most nominated film of the evening looking to pick up nine possible wins, including for Jonny Greenwood’s score.

25 Best Dressed South Asian Musicians of 2025 https://rollingstoneindia.com/25-of-the-best-dressed-south-asian-musicians-of-2025/ Mon, 29 Dec 2025 10:09:26 +0000 https://rollingstoneindia.com/?p=168717

From KATSEYE breakout Lara Raj to Pop empress Sunidhi Chauhan, here’s a rundown of all the South Asian artists that made heads turn this year

The post 25 Best Dressed South Asian Musicians of 2025 appeared first on Rolling Stone India.

]]>

2025 was a year defined by South Asian cultural domination. From sold-out arenas to global stardom, our artists continued to rewrite the rules of the playground. What used to be representation disguised as exoticized appropriation is now a full-blown takeover, spanning runways, arenas, and even the recording booth. Music soared across boundaries, landing legendary crossovers that continue to appear on our playlists on shuffle. Amidst all the hubbub, sartorial storytelling in MV’s, off-duty fits, and onstage costumes have became an emotive tool, a gateway into the artist’s legacy, story and authenticity.

Be it Rhea Raj performing a Bharatnatyam-infused dance break during her Commotion tour, or Diljit Dosanjh’s MET gala look that made heads turn, South Asian musicians are working closely with designers, stylists, and creative directors to develop a style of their own that combines the best of heritage, artistry, and brand identity into one, power-packed outfit. From Desi hip-hop heavyweights to subcultural trendsetters, here’s a rundown of all the South Asian artists that made heads turn, one look at a time.

Jonita Gandhi

From metallic mini-dresses and chromatic hues to knee-high platform boots and form-fitting silhouettes, it’s always a party when Indo-Canadian songstress Jonita Gandhi is onstage, and her wardrobe follows suit. This year, she especially turned heads in her embellished lehenga corset from “Beparwai” MV, a look that went on to inspire desi It-girls everywhere.

Yashraj

To a casual observer, rapper, producer, and writer Yashraj may look like a quintessential boy-next-door, but step into his musical sphere and things take shape differently. Bringing the best of Indo-western aesthetics to the fore, the multi-hyphenate oscillates between bedazzled jackets, baggy harems, craft-laden bomber jackets, and more. A nod to nostalgia and all things desi-hip hop, everything rests on a threshold, not more, not less; just enough.

Kayan (Ambika Nayak)

A striking cross between Winx Club fantasy and Y2K glamour, the DJ, singer, and performer embodies a bold aesthetic defined by bodysuits, asymmetrical skirts, and embellished cutouts.

Vengayo

At first glance, Chennai-based rapper Vengayo, or Isaac Vengayaperumal, may seem like any other guy. But it’s when the camera begins rolling that he gets into character. From pairing traditional gold jimmikkis with a bloodied durag and angel wings in “Chikkamma” to sporting textured leather ensembles in “Sridevi,” each rollout unlocks a new realm for his audience. Setting new benchmarks with every project, the artist, who started out as a dancer, uses his platform to champion folk narratives and heritage through his music videos.

Lara Raj

While the world is still agape at the thought of Indian “baddies” existing, Lara Raj was at the forefront way before it was cool. A Pinterest staple for Brown girls all over the world, the Katseye member’s personal style is a combination of hip-hop, grunge, and R&B, coupled with her lethal smize and swagger, and often rooted in nods to her Tamil background. Bold and experimental, Raj’s choices reflect a time capsule of 2010’s party girl fashion along with Nineties hip-hop mixes in the shuffle. Her signature elements – Gold jimmikis, Om necklace, ornate sparkly bindis, Indian henna tattoos — have become beloved non-negotiables for fans from around the world.

Arogya

Assamese Dark Synth rock band Arogya’s versatility extends to both their sound and creative ethos, curating a KISS-esque visual-kei-coded onstage look with elaborate headgears, consisting of northeastern tribal patterns, intricate jewelry, face paint, and more. They’ve also previously collaborated with designer Yana Ngoba Chakpu for their custom tour ensembles during their performance in Russia.

Aksomaniac

Trivandrum-based singer and pianist Aksomaniac’s magneticity grows on you with time. Mixing mythos with reality, the artist owns up to his cultural eccentricities, dismantling societal narratives surrounding sex, relationships, and beauty standards, especially from a South Indian perspective. Looking like an Indian version of the 2Hollis otherworldly character archetype, he’s instantly recognizable through his curly mane and Seventies, hippie-esque ensembles.

Wild Wild Women

No other girl group does it like Wild Wild Women, an all-female hip-hop collective representing the South Indian peninsula. Draped up in nine yards of pure Kanjeevaram and Kasavu realness, the members deservedly take up space in the best-dressed list. Everything, from their flashy nail rings to their color-coordinated ensembles, remains tethered by a string of coherence, much like their music.

Raveena Aurora

Encompassing all things ethereal and whimsical, Indian-American singer-songwriter Raveena Aurora’s onstage presence holds strength within softness, giving you a momentary glimpse of true serenity. This is further heightened by her free-flowing dresses, iridescent makeup, and dainty, butterfly-inspired accessories.

Reble

Representing the North East, Reble is as volatile as she is demure, commanding the stage with her hard-hitting verses. Fierce and grunge-coded, she is rarely seen without her trusty black boots by her side. Her wardrobe expresses an almost gothic, witchy intensity, her all-black ensembles coming together to unapologetically scream rebellion.

Ranj

Recognizable by her signature teeth grills and stack of gold jewelry, Ranj’s style echoes a little bit of everything — Madras checks, Chopova Lowena-esque kilted skirts, boxy jerseys, and makeup — that would put clean girls in a coma. Part of the Bengaluru-based duo Ranj X Clifr, the Tamilian rapper, songwriter, and singer honors her heritage while also carving a distinctly global sound. Her experimental nature also extends beyond the recording booth, both outfits and mane-wise. From wild, Sixties-inspired bouffants and jewel-encrusted wigs, to 2000s-inspired spiky space buns, her hairstyles further reflect her uncontained range.

Mary-Ann Alexander

Alexander’s personal style exudes the same kind of freshness and vibrancy that can be found in her songs: Think Football jerseys and skorts paired with eclectic scarves and bandanas. Staying true to her ever-evolving R&B sound, the singer, songwriter, and producer is a walking moodboard for Nineties hip-hop style inspiration.

Gini

Redefining slow, cottage-core aesthetics by adding her own desi spin to it, Gini is one of the few Gen Z indie musicians who has made her audience fall in love with not just her music, but also her taste in pastel sarees. Like her EP, Sukoon, her visual identity evokes tranquility, be it through the flowy blouses or Studio Ghibli-coded floral skirts.

Yung Raja

Tailored, preppy fits mixed with street influences are synonymous with Indo-Singaporean rapper Yung Raja. The “high fashion” rapper’s retro, gentlemanly vibe is clearly visible, shaped by his deep-rooted love for style: well-fitted silhouettes, scarves, jewels, drips, and kicks. His Rolling Loud India look captured the best of both worlds — an all-black distressed denim ensemble by Eric Créer, featuring a cropped jacket and bootcut trousers. Having graced global runway showcases and co-founded the fashion label “Pharaoh’s Horses,” he takes his fashion game very seriously.

Hanumankind

Forget the year of the snake; it was certainly the year of the “Big Dawg.” Southside heavyweight Hanumankind, decked up with shiny grills, made the whole world rumble to his tracks at Coachella this year, all while donning a humble angavastram, tank top, and Air Force Ones. Leaning into a simpler wardrobe, the “Run It Up” rapper relies on selective essentials and color palettes, saving the theatrics for his performance.

Arpit Bala

Like his discography, Bala’s stylistic presence continues to send tremors across the DHH landscape. Part digital court jester, part musical ace, he diversifies his online perception by playing various “characters,” both on and off screen. Bala’s stage ensembles rotate in a constant shuffle between oversized leather jackets, baggy jeans, boxy tees, and a pair of sunnies. As his new album, Keychain Laalu, dropped earlier this year, Bala’s world-building also expanded sartorially along with his creative partnership with stylists Sagaal Singh and Yatin Srivastava. From straightjacket-esque monochromatic ensembles, mob-boss fur coats to run-down Balenciaga venom boots, Bala uses clothes to create distinctions between his many worlds.

Chaar Diwari

DHH household name Chaar Diwaari is eclectic and disruptive, both in terms of style and sound. While he’s often seen in hipster-esque, signature harem pants and short kurtas, he’ll amplify it onstage with custom-printed co-ord sets and oversized jackets from brands like Dilli Disco District and Lead-A.

Himesh Reshammiya

Leading one of the country’s most celebrated musical comebacks, Himesh Reshammiya’s “Cap Mania” tour embodied both extravagance and nostalgia. Reshammiya’s onstage looks radiated “Badass Ravikumar” energy — floor-length leather trenchcoats, oversized leather trousers emblazoned with zippers, and, of course, his bedazzled baseball caps, embossed with the classic “HR.” An icon for the ages.

Rishab Rikhiram Sharma

Hands filled with henna, sitarist and composer Rishab Ririkram Sharma commands the stage with calculated ferocity. Shuffling between cream-colored anghrakhas, embroidered sherwanis, and dreamy anarkali kurtas, Sharma looks like a painting commissioned to be hung amidst a royal palace. Rewriting the rules of traditional masculinity, the instrumentalist does not shy away from donning the most intricate pieces of jewelry, namely ornate necklaces and equally alluring rings. Off the stage, he sticks to elevated basics, including classic tees, well-fitted denim, and sneakers.

Anoushka Shankar

Always composed and heritage-forward, Anoushka Shankar’s looks consist of rich, jewel-toned Banarasi and brocade drapes; a thoughtful mishmash of tradition and modernity guided by structure. Craftsmanship takes center stage, even sartorially, when the sitarist carries pieces by renowned Indian designers like Sabyasachi, Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, and Amit Aggarwal with effortless grace and poise.

Rhea Raj

The Raj sisters honor their roots in their own distinct ways, and Rhea Raj does it by channeling a fairy, amping up each look with subversion and sensuality. Bedazzled but effortless, her looks inculcate desi futuristic elements, all while embodying a divine feminine energy and repping modern, maximalist iterations of lehenga cholis, pencil-thin brows, and waist-length hair. Y2K makeup is her best friend: Icy eyeshadow palettes, dual-toned lips; the tiny details accentuate rather than conceal her South Asian heritage.

Sunidhi Chauhan

Indian Pop heiress Sunidhi Chauhan’s “I Am Home” tour got the audience hollering at her impeccable dance moves and modern renditions of “Crazy Kiya Re.” But her wardrobe choices equally grabbed eyeballs. Wearing custom rompers, bedazzled dresses and corseted outfits, she rivalled the sartorial prowess of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Shakira, establishing her might as a sartorial supernova.

Karan Aujla

Spreading P-Pop culture around the world, Aujla melded luxury streetwear essentials with Punjabi components, namely Kurtas, armored vests, bedazzled gloves, and mandatory chunky bling that demands attention at every turn.

Talwiinder

The Punjabi singer, songwriter, and producer, best known for his elusive nature, has dedicatedly carved out his alter ego, face paint and all. Taliwinder is an extension of that exuding a structured yet edgy exterior powered by denim, acid wash tanks, layered vests, leather trousers, and his trusted bandana.

Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh wears his culture like a second skin, whether on red carpets or while performing in sold-out stadiums, seamlessly mixing armor-like utility with the fluidity of the Punjabi kurta-tamba. For the Met Gala, he stepped into true royalty in a custom Prabal Gurung look inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Bathed in an ivory sheen on the Met carpet, the ensemble had an unparalleled regality, complete with a jewel-encrusted turban, kirpan, and an embossed cape adorned with the Gurmukhi script. Celestial shapes, a ceremonial sword, floral motifs, and rich gold embroideries ensured no stone was left unturned in amplifying the grandeur.

Why ‘Nana’ Is A Resounding Homage to Punk Rock https://rollingstoneindia.com/nana-manga-vivienne-westwood-collaboration/ Fri, 21 Nov 2025 10:10:37 +0000 https://rollingstoneindia.com/?p=167328 Nana Vivienne Westwood

As Ai Yazawa’s cult manga ‘Nana' celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, here’s a quick look at how punk rock meets girl in this Shōjo series

The post Why ‘Nana’ Is A Resounding Homage to Punk Rock appeared first on Rolling Stone India.

]]>
Nana Vivienne Westwood

What’s the real punk rock? Without sounding like Clark Kent in the latest Superman film, punk (or punk-rock) is the anti-establishment subculture that burst onto the scene in the mid-1970s. At the time, the youth were disillusioned and disenchanted, and punk was born as a reaction against everything the previous generations stood for. Punks tightly wrapped themselves in artfully distressed tartan, held together by a plethora of safety pins, and secured with an insane amount of styling gel.

Punk, like any subculture, has a very distinct aesthetic and style that embodies its rebellious spirit, and one of the best-known names when it comes to pioneering punk fashion is Vivienne Westwood. Along with Malcom McLaren (her partner at the time), Westwood brought New York’s punk rebellion across the pond and unleashed it onto the streets of London at their store on 430 King’s Road, London —SEX. That King’s Road address became the birthplace of punk in the United Kingdom. The band Sex Pistols, founded and managed by McLaren, originated at SEX, with Westwood designing the couture. One of punk’s most definitive bands, the Sex Pistols were partly responsible for popularizing the aesthetic.

Cut to the Eighties, Westwood opened her first international store in Tokyo. The avant-garde fashion quickly caught the eye of the alternate scene there, and by the Nineties, most fashion magazines catering to those subcultures, featured pieces by Westwood. Today Japan has more Vivienne Westwood stores than the U.K., including the RED LABEL, which is a Japan exclusive.

But what really boosted this punk brand’s popularity was a manga — Nana.

Ai Yazawa, Nana’s creator, was a fashion school dropout from Osaka Mode Gakuen, who quit to seriously focus on the career she always dreamt of—a mangaka. Nonetheless, her affinity for the fashion world comes through in her art style and approach to character identity — Nana is arguably one of the best homages to punk fashion.

Nana follows the story of two girls, both named Nana, who meet on a train enroute to Tokyo. Aside from their names, they couldn’t be further apart. But despite their dichotomy, they strike up a strong friendship, renting apartment 707 (‘7’ is read as nana in Japanese). Together, the girls navigate love, loss and everything in between, finding themselves drifting through the uncertainties of adulthood in Tokyo in the early 2000s.

The armour ring (left) worn by Osaki in ‘Nana’ (right). Photos: Vivienne Westwood, Ai Yazawa

While Nana Komatsu (called Hachi), leaned towards frills, lace, lighter tones that suited her softer demeanor, Nana Osaki threw herself headfirst into the maelstrom of punk. Osaki becomes the lead singer of the Black Stones (aka BLAST), a punk rock band in her hometown and starts a relationship with the group’s bassist Ren Honjo. Thus begins the volatile relationship between Ren and Nana that mirrors the relationship between Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen (Ren’s appearance, character and trajectory in life is loosely based on the former). Osaki even gifts him a padlock necklace that looks like an exact replica of Sid Vicious’s own. He’s a fan of the Sex Pistols and it is he who opens the doors of punk rock to Osaki.

The series has spawned an anime series, two live-action films, video games and several tribute albums. Nana Best (2007) is the compilation of the OST used in the anime. Punk Night from Nana (2003) is an album that has tracks inspired by BLAST’s set list and performances, including covers of Sex Pistols’ songs. The album that stands out the most, however, is Love for Nana (2005) which is a tribute to the series in which Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock provides one of the tracks dedicated to BLAST, coming full circle.

Nana Osaki’s go-to fashion house is Vivienne Westwood. It is perhaps one of Nana’s greatest mysteries how a broke, aspiring punk rockstar could afford the pieces featured in the manga. Of course, some of them are gifts, albeit expensive ones.

Osaki is almost always sporting the Vivienne Westwood Armour ring, perhaps as a metaphor to the ‘armour’ she wears to protect herself from the harsh world around her.

She also wears the iconic red heart-shaped jacket from the Harris Tweed collection, designed by Vivienne Westwood, Autumn Winter 1987-88. It makes multiple appearances, not just in the manga and anime, but also in official artwork.

The Rocking Horse Ballerina shoes, which first appeared in the Spring Summer 1985 ‘Mini-Crini’ catwalk show, is also rocked by Osaki for performances along with the Super Elevated Ghillie Platforms —the very same infamous ones which caused Naomi Campbell’s fall on the runway in 1993. Osaki, however, stands tall throughout, defying the laws of physics while belting out tunes for BLAST’s gigs.

And it’s not just Nana Osaki who has a penchant for the designer; other characters do too. Shinichi Okazaki, BLAST’s second bassist, borrows a lot from Westwood’s 1974 Bondage collection.

The signature Saturn Orb symbol (from Vivienne Westwood’s iconic logo) also makes its appearance in all forms– from earrings and necklaces to, most notably, Okazaki’s lighter.

Thus, Vivienne Westwood and Nana have always been intrinsically linked together and now in a very strange turn of events for the 25th anniversary of Nana, the two are having an official collaboration. The first collaborative item to be revealed was the limited-edition anniversary cover of Volume One of the manga. Featuring both Nanas decked in Westwood finery with sprayed plaid edges, it’s also one of the most affordable items in the collaborative collection. The price of punk is pretty steep these days –ironic, because one of punk’s cornerstones is anti-capitalism.

Okazaki’s orb lighter. Photo: Ai Yazawa

What is perhaps woeful is that the manga is still unfinished and stuck on a cliff-hanger. Due to health issues Yazawa had put Nana on an infinite hiatus back in 2009 at Chapter 84. Now, 16 years later, Yazawa plans to finally conclude the story. The jury is still out whether the girls reunite or if Hachi ends up with a fate similar to Hachiko, waiting for Nana Osaki in Apartment 707.

Whether or not the final curtains will close on Nana, the series still stands as a testament to one of the best depictions of the spirit of punk in media and its fashion choices continue to influence newer readers. Nana Osaki may be AWOL, but she continues to be an enduring presence as the Princess of Punk-rock.

September is the holy grail of the fashion calendar. From Burberry’s music festival-inspired mayhem to Diesel’s immersive egg hunt, shows across New York, London, and Milan have set the stage for high-concept runway experiences. Across the circuit, the front rows are dominated by some of the biggest names in global music. From K-pop to Punjabi hip-hop, these artists are not only topping international charts but also making waves at fashion shows. Here are the best-dressed musicians turning heads at fashion weeks around the world.

Badshah: Alexander Wang

Becoming the first Indian rapper to attend NYFW, Badshah donned an all-denim look for Alexander Wang’s Spring-Summer 2026 collection at 58 Bowery, New York. Diamond-studded brooches, made by skilled Indian artisans, were strewn across his baggy fit, blending homegrown craftsmanship and global style in one ensemble. This was the rapper’s second time attending a fashion show, after making his fashion week debut with Amiri earlier this year.

AP Dhillon: Burberry

Serving “Brown Munde” realness, Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon’s Burberry drip was one for the books. Layered in classic trench coats, tailored jackets, and suede boots, all proudly flaunting the Burberry logo, he commanded attention with every detail. All eyes were already on the runway as Creative Director Daniel Lee debuted his S/S ’26 collection — a gritty nod to British music festival culture, merging Glastonbury energy with Burberry’s craftsmanship and a splash of 1970s rock influence. Dhillon’s tasseled scarf was giving peak 2000s Shah Rukh Khan energy. It was a refreshing switch-up for the rapper, known for his baggy, stage-ready fits. Sporting a custom-made deep brown Burberry suit under Lee’s vision, he didn’t forget the essentials: his signature swagger. Chocolate brown is definitely his look. And of course, what is Burberry without its stripes? Seated front row alongside global icons like Jonathan Bailey and Elton John, AP Dhillon was every bit the moment.

Enhyphen: Prada

All seven members of the K-pop group Enhyphen graced the front row as global brand ambassadors, turning heads with their presence. Blending 1970s rock-band edge with signature Korean suave, their fits were tailored to reflect each member’s unique identity and personality. Leather, cowboy boots, soft rosettes, and fur-trimmed coats exuded a sense of rustic charm that united them stylistically. The collection, designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, an iconic duo, delivered as always, showcasing a sharp mix of utility, fresh color combinations, and innately chic accessories.

Kim Seokjin: Gucci

The heartthrob from BTS, Jin, made a striking appearance at Gucci’s short film premiere “The Tiger,” turning heads in a heavenly, billowy button-down shirt from the house’s “La Famiglia” collection. He paired the look with sleek black trousers, a subtle chain, and a purse, all emblazoned with the iconic Gucci logos. Fresh off his military comeback, his look cemented him not just as a brand ambassador but also as the underrated fashion icon that he is. This marked his third appearance for the brand, wherein he shared the front row with Serena Williams and Alia Bhatt. Jin’s presence alone was enough to send the BTS ARMY into an absolute frenzy. As he stepped onto the red carpet, the Palazzo Mezzanotte echoed with cheers, proving once again why he’s earned the nickname “Worldwide Handsome.”

Joshua (Seventeen) and Momo (Twice): Onitsuka Tiger

K-pop icons Joshua (Seventeen) and Momo (TWICE) made a power-packed appearance at Onitsuka Tiger’s S/S ’26 presentation, titled Urban Fantasy. Both dressed in sharply tailored looks, they brought their signature flair to the front row. Joshua stuck to classics with a fitted jacket from Onitsuka, saving the drama for his standout shoes. Momo, as always, served face, topping off his look with a tasseled tie.

Bang Chan: Fendi

Stray Kids member Bang Chan caused a stir on the streets of Milan as fans gathered for a glimpse of the idol ahead of Fendi’s S/S ’26 show. As a brand ambassador, he made a bold statement in an all-black ensemble, pairing a sheer, laced-through shirt with a structured leather trench coat and tailored pants. The look was a striking contrast of tough and soft, embodying the K-pop idol’s innate versatility that extends not just sonically, but also stylistically.

S.Coups: Boss

Choi Seungcheol (Seventeen), known as S.Coups, made a headline-worthy runway debut, closing the BOSS S/S ’26 Womenswear show, “Paradox.” His runway cameo had him don an elevated ensemble featuring a head-to-toe BOSS look. The cherry on top was the dark brown leather trench coat with buttoned detailing, gleaming under the flash of the spotlight. Adding to that, in what can be termed a multiverse-of-madness moment, Indian actor Ishaan Khatter was spotted front row alongside British football icon David Beckham.

Hyunjin: Versace

The Versace “prince” Hwang Hyunjin received a royal welcome as fans and press swarmed him ahead of the Versace S/S26 showcase. The Stray Kids member, who earned the regal title from Donatella Versace herself, is also the Korean brand ambassador, alongside Ningning of Aespa. Posing in a statement black leather bomber jacket and signature Versace glasses, he gave a modern spin to the vintage Hollywood heartthrob archetype. Known for combining streetwear and luxury in a gender-fluid manner, the rapper, singer, and dancer is fashion’s favorite muse. He was seen in attendance alongside English model Romeo Beckham and Chinese actor Ding Yuxi.

The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards have begun with stars from the best of television strutting the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Hosted by comedian and first-time MC Nate Bargatze, the event is celebrating its 77th anniversary. This year, SeveranceThe White Lotus, and The Studio will battle it out with more than 20 nominations each. Severance leads the pack with 27 nods, while The White Lotus and The Studio each received 23 nominations. Meanwhile, the leader in the Limited or Anthology Series category is The Penguin, which garnered an impressive 24 nominations.

To kick the night off, scroll through our gallery to see the best and boldest looks from the 77th Emmys red carpet.

Michael Buckner/Variety

An Early Look

Walter Goggins joked about “being early” to the Emmys and walking the red carpet in a white blazer and matching shirt aligned with a vacation-at-the-White Lotus theme. The actor wore a snake as a ring, necklace, and bracelet to honor a special scene (no spoilers!) in the show, which earned him a nod in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Rick.

Robert Gauthier/Los Angeles Times/Getty Images

Mirrorball Glamour

Justine Lupe was channeling a mirrorball in a glittering silver dress. The Nobody Wants This star kept the glam minimal — simple makeup, no jewelry, hair down — letting her neckline and head-to-toe sparkle do the talking. Her Netflix show, which stars nominees Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, is up for Outstanding Comedy Series tonight.

Robert Gauthier/Los Angeles Times/Getty Images

Strike a Pose

Derek Hough being extra on a red carpet? Is the sky blue? The Dancing With the Stars judge hit the carpet in a classic black tux, pairing it with no-show socks and sleek shoes, then broke into a few dance moves. The ABC competition show returns Tuesday.

PATRICK T. FALLON/AFP/Getty Images

Bringing the Blooms

Is that a lotus on his vest? The White Lotus star Sam Nivola ditched the basic-boy tux, rocking a wide-lapel coat and loose trousers matched with a floral vest layered over a white button-up. It’s a win when the guys mix it up, and he’s repping a show that scored 10 nominations.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

Something New Please

Last night, Mario Lopez was ringside co-hosting the Crawford vs. Canelo fight on Netflix. Today? He showed up in what looked like the exact same outfit: a black suit, black tie, black shirt combo that screamed a bit “basic.” Time to switch it up!

Michael Buckner/Variety

Ready in Red

Shabana Azeez nailed the shades of red in a light crimson gown that popped just enough against the carpet. The mermaid-style dress featured a rose-ruffle detail on one shoulder, giving the look a gorgeous 3D addition. She’s repping The Pitt, which is up for Outstanding Drama Series and several other awards tonight.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Standing Up

Megan Stalter left the goofy bits (and that viral Dunkin’ Donuts getup from the VMAs) at home to make a humanitarian statement. The Hacks actress showed up in a pared-down white T-shirt and jeans with a bold red lip. She made a loud statement with a strong accessory: a black handbag marked with white tape reading “CEASE FIRE!” — a call for an end to the war in Gaza.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Vision in Gold

Dichen Lachman went for gold in a sparkly gown that faded from light gold to bronze, and finished darker at the hem. She kept her hair sleek in a top bun, and opted for some simple necklaces. Lachman is repping Severance. The show is the night’s most-nominated series, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Mother Has Arrived!

Jennifer Coolidge stunned in an all-black, off-the-shoulder gown, complete with matching gloves, a sleek clutch, and hoop pearl earrings to tie it all together. While she’s not up for a trophy this year, she’s still repping The White Lotus, which scored big nominations tonight.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Pretty in Pink

She’s got the pink in Blackpink down! Lisa is repping her acting chops tonight at the 2025 Emmys, following her breakout role as Mook in The White Lotus, in an off-the-shoulder, corseted pink dress that’s equal parts Barbie-glam and fairy, sleek drama.

Francis Specker/CBS/Getty Images

Emmys Royalty Is in the House

Patricia Arquette dazzled in a velvety gown with matching gloves. She’s repping Severance — the night’s most-nominated show — and is herself up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Harmony. A win would mark her third Emmy, following victories for The Act in 2019 and Medium in 2006.

Gilbert Flores/Variety

Making Waves

Keyla Monterroso Mejia made waves as the sharp assistant in The Studio, which is one of the top nominees tonight. The Mexican-Guatemalan actress, who made her breakthrough on Curb Your Enthusiasm, strutted the red carpet in a red gown with petal-like ruffles and sheer sleeves.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Perfectly Polished

What the Helly, she looks good! Britt Lower’s red hair perfectly complemented her burnt-orange gown. She accented it with sparkling silver earrings and a clean makeup look. Tonight, she’s up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her starring role in Severance.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Elegant Streak

Jean Smart has won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021, 2022, and last year — could she get back to a streak this year? The Hacks lead actress already looked award-worthy on the red carpet in an elegant, dark emerald gown with a turtleneck, perfectly ruffled sleeves, and stacked necklaces.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Stunning in Black and Gold

We love the elegance of black and gold! On the Emmys red carpet, Chloë Sevigny — nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — stunned in a black gown with puffed sleeves and gold details on the straps of her dress and her bracelet.

John Shearer/WireImage/Getty Images

Jaw-Dropping Jenna

Bravo, Jenna Ortega — you know how to make an entrance! The Wednesday star, who’s presenting tonight, rocked a top made of giant gems hanging from her neck, paired with a black long skirt with a daring slit. Her makeup was perfectly stunning and spooky, and her look is a favorite of the night. The whole ensemble is definitely something her Wednesday Season Two co-star Lady Gaga would 100 percent approve.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Date Night

Selena Gomez is giving a masterclass in elegance — alongside Benny Blanco! The singer-producer duo brought couple goals to the carpet, even sharing a sweet kiss at one point. Gomez stunned in a bright red gown with a matching cape, accented with silver earrings and rings. Tonight, her show, Only Murders in the Building, is up for multiple awards. Blanco? He’s down for the ride in an elegant all-black tuxedo.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Papi Pascal

If there were a Daddy of the Year award at the Emmys, Pedro Pascal would be the frontrunner. The Last of Us star, who’s nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, strutted the red carpet in an off-white, double-breasted suit with matching trousers and a crisp white collared shirt, accessorized with sleek, mysterious glasses. It’s a look we could definitely see Ricky Martin rocking.

Savion Washington/Getty Images

Principal’s Night Out

Janelle James was all-smiles in a wine-maroon, figure-flattering dress, and her hair styled in soft curls. Tonight, she’s up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Principal Coleman on Abbott Elementary.

PATRICK T. FALLON/AFP/Getty Images

Teacher’s Treat

Miss Teague’s look is next level! Quinta Brunson arrived in a stunning black gown with a plunging neckline and criss-crossed silver bedazzled straps, paired with simple earrings and rings. Tonight, she’s up for Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Lead Actress, a category she won in 2023 for her starring role in the show she created, Abbott Elementary.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

No Scrubs

Katherine LaNasa skipped the scrubs on the red carpet in a strapless pearl-colored gown that’s finished with an off-blue bow. She added a pop of red with her lipstick and wore her hair slicked back. Tonight, she’s up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Charge Nurse Dana Evans in The Pitt.

PATRICK T. FALLON/AFP/Getty Images

Yee Haw!

Lainey Wilson channeled full country vibes in silver gem-encrusted pants, a cream top, and, of course, a matching cowgirl hat. Tonight, she’ll join Vince Gill for the In Memoriam segment. “It’s important to tip our hat and honor people. I have never had an opportunity to sing with him until now,” she told People, calling the Eagles musician’s voice “angelic.”

PATRICK T. FALLON/AFP/Getty Images

Good Genes and Looks

We were ready to joke about her skipping the denim and jeans (after that American Eagle controversy), but Sydney Sweeney’s look is just way too good. The actress stunned in a shiny red corseted gown that highlighted her cleavage, paired with subtle matching accessories. She looked stunning, and we have no notes.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Eleganza

Catherine O’Hara knows a thing or two about eleganza. The iconic actress wore a refined gown with subtle ruffles at the waist, paired with a sparkly clutch that matched the neckline. Tonight, she’s up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her beloved role in Seth Rogen’s The Studio.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Couple Goals

We love a date night, especially with these two lovebirds: Reba McEntire and Rex Linn. The country queen dazzled in a sparkly blazer over a silky black dress, her signature red hair perfectly framing her face (bangs included!). Linn kept it classic in a simple black suit, because of course, Reba is the queen tonight. She’ll be performing “Thank You for Being a Friend” as a tribute to The Golden Girls during the show.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Royal Energy

Halsey might be revisiting her Badlands era, but this look channels If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power with its vintage, royal energy. The singer stunned in a sparkly gold-and-black dress that perfectly matched her earrings, and wore her hair short and curly.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Next Level Vibes

Colman Domingo gave next level vibes with a little something extra. He rocked flared chocolate trousers and pointy black shoes, but it was his silver-blue coat, matching scarf, and polka-dot shirt that really stole the spotlight. Tonight, the iconic actor is up for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for The Four Seasons.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Gilmore Girls Reunite!

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel made a splash on the Emmys red carpet. The reunited Gilmore Girls stars looked gorgeous. “Momma Gilmore” Graham rocked a sheer, flowery, and flowy gown, while “daughter Rory” Bledel was also a vision in a silver, form-fitting strapless number.

The 2025 MTV Music Video Awards kicked off on Sunday, Sept. 7, with artists flaunting their best, most dazzling, and wildest looks on the red carpet, at UBS Arena in New York City.

The VMAs always features stunning styles and moments, and this year has been no exception. Scroll through our gallery of all the fashion that drew fans’ attention prior to the first Moon Person being awarded.

Katseye: Business in the Front, Party in the Back

Fresh off their viral GAP ad, viral girl group Katseye traded in daytime denim for some nightlife chic. In the center stands Sophia, throwing it back to the business casual clubwear of yesteryear, while her crew rocks complementary fits of satin, fur, rhinestones, and a barely-there sheer skirt.

Gilbert Flores/Billboard

Doja Cat Turns Everyone into the ‘Jealous Type’

Doja Cat’s upcoming album is called Vie, and you could certainly say she’s living the life: The rapper and singer strutted in platform heels, a blonde bouffant, and a form-fitting checkered jacket/skirt that showed off plenty of thigh, with a dazzling dash of magenta plumage up the middle. We can confidently say that she’ll be the only one to literally eat a bite of her lipstick on this red carpet.

Johnny Nunez/Getty Images/MTV

Ayra Starr Cuts the Tape

Afrobeats darling Ayra Starr wrapped her “Hot Body” in a jumpsuit made of shiny black bands, matching the tone of her new, dark pixie cut. Bandaged but making it sexy, she rocked a tiny blinged-out nose strip to match, along with a stack of thick bangles and strappy, platformed heels.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Megan Stalter: Did She Do ‘Too Much?’

The comedian and star of Lena Dunham’s latest TV show held nothing back with a white, cylindrical ensemble that made her look like something of a walking chef’s hat (wearing another, smaller chef’s hat, naturally). The array of suspenders is impressive, but the true stars of this look are the spiky nails and the bedazzled Dunkin’ Donuts clutch with a pearl strap. Somewhere, Ben Affleck is nodding in approval.

LEONARDO MUNOZ/AFP/Getty Images

Tate McRae’s Pure White Ensemble

In her latest twist on her signature all-white outfits, Tate McRae donned an angelic dress with a sheer skirt that draped all around her on the red carpet. She’s fresh off of rocking the nearby Madison Square Garden on Sept. 3 and 4 for her Miss Possessive Arena tour. She’ll be back at the iconic venue on Oct. 18, too.

Dia Dipasupil/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Rebecca Black Mixes Instead of Matching

The “Trust!” singer and DJ opted for a certain level of clash with a delicate but showy lace skirt and a furry gray top that feels like something out of Princess Mononoke. This somewhat more feral style choice was complemented by leather-strapped shoes that appear to have hooves. Whether it all works together is a matter of personal taste, but the spirit of the wilderness is there.

Mike Coppola/Getty Images/MTV

Zara Larsson Opts for Total Transparency

Weeks out from the release of her next album, Midnight Sun, Larsson lit up the carpet by looking like a Lisa Frank illustration — if those had included fewer unicorns and a little more skin. Jeweled flowers adorned her hair, hand, and sheer blue dress, which you might call more of a bathing suit. This is your welcome reminder that summer isn’t over just yet.

Mike Coppola/Getty Images/MTV

Dasha Brings the Drama in Red

After a breakout year following the viral success of her song “Austin” and the country line-dance that propelled it all over TikTok, Dasha walked the carpet dressed to kill in a blood-red getup. Giving the cameras smizes to die for, she showed off a lacy corset, blooming choker, and layered skirt with a full leg-revealing slit.

Mike Coppola/Getty Images/MTV

LL Cool J and Simone Smith: Tweed Twins

VMAs host LL Cool J and his wife Simone Smith rocked comfortably loose plaid tweed jackets but went in opposite directions on their headgear: LL with a straw boater and Simone with a cheetah print number. Both also sported accent pieces that no doubt came from Smith’s jewelry line — a lapel brooch for him and jangly gold bracelets for her. They make a great pair of time-traveling gangster rock stars.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images/MTV

GloRilla: Thought She Wasn’t Going to Look Amazing? As If!

Totally giving Clueless, GloRilla stunned in a preppy look that Dionne Davenport (Stacy Dash’s character, duh) would die for. She wore dark hair cascading to past her hips from a side part, her locks almost as long as her plaid super-minidress. Structured with a corset, collar, and tie, it was topped with a matching blazer and styled with ruffled socks and sky-high Mary Jane style heels. What a Betty!

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Sabrina Carpenter Serves Up Devilish Showgirl Glamour

Fresh off the release of Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter was all covered up — but not really. In a sparkling, flame-patterned, barely-there red dress and carrying tentacled, lavender feather boas, the “Manchild” singer seemed ready to launch into a sizzling Las Vegas theater routine at any moment. After the controversy over the gender politics of her latest album cover, she pulled off the impossible: a look both spicy and demure.

Christopher Polk/Billboard

Ariana Grande Rocks Polka Dots on the ‘Wicked’ Press Tour…Oh Wait

To be fair, Ariana Grande had to wear looks like this Fendi number for what felt like an eternity as she promoted the blockbuster musical Wicked last year, but the black-and-white dress with a prominent pop of peplum pink does feel a bit out of place on the red carpet at one of the most lively and cutting-edge award shows there is — as far as fashion goes. Then again, with Wicked: For Good out in two-and-half-months, perhaps she’s holding space for the film here.

Johnny Nunez/Getty Images/MTV

Latto: Go Gold or Go Home

Winner of the 2023 Song of Summer VMA for “Seven,” her 2023 collab with Jung Kook, the Atlanta rapper is presenting tonight, not vying for a trophy. That doesn’t mean she can’t dress like one, though. Latto cut a statuesque figure in a sweeping, shimmering golden gown and snake-themed stilettos, making it clear that this is an awards show about flashy pop stars grasping for glory.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Summer Walker Is Feeling Blue

Summer Walker hasn’t been afraid to let the world know when she’s Over It, but she was feeling a better kind of blue on the red carpet. Her whimsical look included a massive, furry light blue hat with pops of teal and queen (thoughts and prayers for whoever is sitting behind her if she doesn’t find a place to put it). It complemented her rhinestone-studded capris and matching purse with a silky white corset to top it off.

Dia Dipasupil/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Yungblud’s Gym Bod Blows Everyone Away

The English musician performed at the late Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert this summer and paid homage to the heavy-metal tradition this evening, arriving shirtless in a leather coat and pants. And, needless to say, the coat didn’t stay on long. Yungblud flexed a set of abs that would have anyone reconsidering their current workout routine, hitting a well-practiced Jim Morrison pose.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images/MTV

Conan Gray Is Ready to Sail Away

Conan Gray is rocking nautical style along with Wishbone, his latest album that finds him “wear[ing] his heart on his sleeves,” per Rolling Stone‘s review. On the VMAs red carpet, he’s also wearing loads of frills and fabric on his sleeves, too. Ahead of his performance, Gray wore an elaborate, sailor-chic dress with a high-low cut and massive white platform boots. He also donned a sea-faring cap with his album’s initials embroidered into it.

Christopher Polk/Billboard

FKA Twigs Shows Up ‘Perfectly’ Herself

Never one to blend in with the crowd, FKA Twigs was the usual vision of future-forward fashion. She hit the carpet wrapped in a burgundy shawl and straps of fabric, while her braids were styled to resemble a pair of headphones (wired, not bluetooth). The Eusexua singer completed her look with black boots and silver bangles, ready for a role in some not-yet-announced sequel to The Fifth Element.

Jamie McCarthy/WireImage/Getty Images

Tyla Arrives in Blinged-Out ‘Bliss’

Tyla loves a micro-look, and tonight’s is made of a structured, cream-colored minidress that made a perfect backdrop for the real star of her fit — the mounds of gold jewelry she piled on. Decked out in a chunky charm bracelet, a waist chain of gold links and pendants, and a pirate’s chest worth of treasures piled on her neck and dangling from her ears, the 2024 Best Afrobeats winner looked like the prize herself.

Johnny Nunez/Getty Images/MTV

Sexyy Red Is Staying on Brand

The “Whatchu Kno About Me” rapper has a reputation to live up to, and was indisputably en fuego in — what else — top-to-bottom red, hair included. With devil horns sprouting from the top of her dress and a long spiked tail trailing from the rear, you might easily have missed the ultimate accessory in this bad-girl getup: a gigantic wad of cash. Who needs a purse when you’re planning to make it rain?

Christopher Polk/Billboard

The Marías Are Doing Whatever the Hell They Want

True to their Los Angeles roots, the indie group offered a mash-up of hipster styles that included an ascot, a hood, and a vintage sports jersey layered over a button-down shirt. Lead singer María Zardoya vamped in a silken, fur-lined cape and lace black gloves, giving flashes of Cruella de Vil with her witchy stare, and threw open this evening wear to show off a top that left little to the imagination.

Gilbert Flores/Billboard

Ice Spice Throws It All the Way Back to … 2003

Ah, the early aughts, a heyday of MTV music video programming. And the “Gyatt” rapper has channeled that era with a two-toned garment from Ralph Lauren’s spring 2003 collection, something like a combination of Victorian corset and a patchwork denim picnic tablecloth. Is it possible to channel the Y2K aesthetic and still pull off “timeless” red carpet attire? Alas, you can probably carbon-date this thing to the exact season it came out.

The 2025 Met Gala is in full swing, with celebrities from every discipline descending on the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a night of high fashion. This year, attendees will celebrate the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which was inspired by the 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity by Monica Miller, who curated the accompanying Costume Institute exhibit.

The 2025 edition has already raised the most money in its 77-year history, bringing in $31 million to the museum. “[It’s] an environment of celebration, of support, and of meaning,” Max Hollein, the director and chief executive of the Met, told the New York Times.

This year’s event is co-hosted by Anna Wintour, alongside actor Colman Domingo, musicians A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. Basketball icon LeBron James serves as the charity event’s honorary chair.

Zendaya

Zendaya is, without fail, one of the best dressed stars. The Dune actress arrived at the Met Gala in a Zoot suit-style, white Louis Vuitton bell-bottom suit paired with a stunning hat that completed a look celebrating the Superfine theme to perfection. The outfit featured a notable silver snake accent on the back. Zendaya wore her nails wine red that stood out with her all-white look.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Diana Ross

It’s fitting for the queen Diana Ross to have the most iconic entrance so far after a choir performed “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to kick off the event. The music legend walked the red carpet with six suited men carrying her gloriously long train that spread across the steps of the Met Gala entrance, as Zendaya and other stars watched in awe. She wore a silver dress under her cape, matched with sequined sleeves and a feathered cape and hat.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny is channeling the essence of Puerto Rico at the Met Gala. The superstar looked dazzling in a chocolate brown suit, his gelled hair tucked under a dark brown hat inspired by his country’s folkloric pava. He wore a lighter shade of brown on his shirt and a golden tie as he carried a brown leather bag in his golden-gloved hands.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Jennie

The first Blackpink queen is in the house! Jennie rocked a custom black Chanel jumpsuit with pearl accents and an over-skirt inspired by the fashion of the Twenties and Thirties. “I just feel so good with the hat and everything,” Jennie told Vogue. “It was wonderful working with the Chanel team, because [it’s] coming from Coco Chanel’s legacy and history. It had everything to do with what we wanted to represent.”

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

A$AP Rocky

“I wanted to give a little Harlem nights. It’s literally all designed by me,” said the rapper. Red-bottom Christian Louboutin shoes with a dark vest under a striking trenchcoat, plus a pistol-handled umbrella — it seems he checked the weather report. Rain or shine, A$AP’s in a party mood, and live-streamed himself getting hyped to “Off the Meter” by Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson, and Playboi Carti on his way to the gala, which he co-chaired this year.

Gilbert Flores/PMC

Teyana Taylor

When you’re hosting the Met Gala livestream, it pays to be on-theme, and the multi-talented Tayana Taylor has given us a look that epitomizes “Tailored for You,” the dress code inspired by the exhibit and the event. The Harlem native is resplendent in a pinstriped zoot suit by Marc Jacobs, underneath a royal ruby cape dripping with silver chains and spring blossoms. Some fabulous hat plumage, a cane, and massive platform heels complete the delightfully devilish ensemble. No doubt about it, she’s here to strut.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Anna Wintour, Colman Domingo, and Lewis Hamilton

The hosts of the night have arrived — and set the tone for night to come. Condé Nast’s Anna Wintour stepped onto the carpet in her signature bob with a silver gown with a sky blue coat over her shoulders. Next to her was Colamn Domingo who wore a royal blue cape that seemingly referenced André Leon Talley over a patterned, black-and-gray suit, and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton who opted for cream beret to match an exquisite tuxedo, adorned with cowries and pearls.

Theo Wargo/FilmMagic

Helen Lasichanh and Pharrell Williams

Coordinated, not matching! Pharrell, one of the cohosts for the evening, walked the red carpet in a cropped, double-breasted silver suit and bell-bottom, black slacks. “The black men of the working class,” he told Variety of his inspiration for the world. “They do the hard work but when it’s time to get fresh, they get dandy and superfine.” Next to him was his wife and fashion designer Helen Lasichanh with her hair slicked back, and dressed in a leather black leotard with lacey, Louis Vuitton monogram tights.

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney’s looking regal! The star channeled Kim Novak as she walked the Met Gala carpet in a sequined, black dress with keyhole neckline. She wore her hair slicked back with her gelled hair adorning her forehead.

Michael Loccisano/GA/The Hollywood Reporter/Getty Images

Coco Jones

Pearls are in style at this year’s Met Gala — and Coco Jones is making them look extra special. The R&B queen strutted the red carpet in a gorgeous, pearl-encrusted cape and matching pantsuit. She wore her hair in a thick, long braid that nearly reached the ground. “Nights and days of tailoring and restyling and rewearing and figuring it out,” Jones told the Hollywood Reporter on the carpet of what it took to create the look.

Michael Buckner/PMC

Emma Chamberlain

YouTuber, podcaster, model, entrepreneur and 2023 Rolling Stone cover star Emma Chamberlain arrived to conduct red carpet interviews with pinstripe pizzazz, in a custom Courrèges creation that splits the difference between power suit and evening gown. With no sleeves, sheer gloves, icy glasses and earrings, and a long train instead of jacket tails, she could be working at a Wall Street firm run by vampires (although aren’t they all?) or the queen of a goth prom. Either way, you can see why she’s one of the top fashion influencers in the game.

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Sadie Sink

Fresh off her first Tony nomination, Sadie Sink looked regal in a custom black Prada dress with a long train that perhaps didn’t meet the menswear theme of the year, but she looked stunning nonetheless. She wore her hair up and went for a clean look.

Getty Images for The Met Museum/

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg channeled Black dandyism to a T as she arrived on the red carpet in a Thom Browne suit-dress. She adorned the classic, fitted look with a softer, white fuzzy double coat and a black top hat with a veil. It was the perfect play on femininity while staying on the menswear theme.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Rev. Al Sharpton

Rev. Al Sharpton has ruffled some feathers in his day, but it’s hard to see how anyone could take issue with those ruffled cuffs, which add just the perfect amount of flair to a silky and sophisticated tuxedo. The plush velvet shoulders, meanwhile, lend him the authority of a judge — handy in case he’s going to declare any style verdicts tonight. “The history of Black dandyism is deeply intertwined with the politics of race, power, and representation,” Sharpton recently said on his MSNBC show in an interview with Shelby Ivey Christie, with the pair agreeing that the theme was apropos for a political climate in which Black institutions face erasure.

Theo Wargo/FilmMagic

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson arrived in a sparkly silver, gem-encrusted Tory Burch dress. She kept things simple, and continued her recent, clean-faced look as she debuted a blonde bob with short bangs. Anderson skipped the jewelry on her fingers, opting instead for a small silver cuff on her right ear.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Maya Hawke

Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke was definitely thinking outside the box here. On a night dominated by sharp contours and black-and-white contrasts, she went with a shiny pink Prada dress and nude-colored cape, a more amorphous look altogether. But next to Netflix co-star Sadie Sink’s black lace, the pair got a nice dueling-princesses effect.

Michael Buckner/PMC

Gigi Hadid

It’s a glamorous 30th birthday for Gigi Hadid. The model wore a Miu Miu, strikingly golden dress styled by Gabriela Karefa Johnson and inspired by Zelda Wynn Valdes, the iconic designer behind the original Playboy Bunny costumes. “At the time, it was different, new, and risky,” Hadid said of Wynn Valdes’ inspirations. “She took on the essence of Black dandyism which is to mix these strong fashion pillars in a way that you feel you’re expressing yourself individually.”

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Lorde

Lorde opted for the silver-grays on the red carpet. The “What Was That” musician wore a sgray bandeau over a form-fitted, pleated skirt. She carried a matching suit in her hand, a reference to the evening’s theme.

John Shearer/WireImage

Lupita Nyong’o

Here comes the most electric hue of the evening: Lupita Nyong’o in a frosted blue Chanel creation, a slimmed, monochrome version of the zoot-suit-and-cape combo that red carpet host Teyana Taylor is flaunting tonight. When your eyes adjust to the color, you’ll notice the fine and delicate texture of both. And could this be a comeback for boater hats?

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Miley Cyrus

Just two days after premiering her new song “More to Lose,” the singer appeared on the red carpet in a cropped black crocodile jacket and long black skirt from Alaia, topped off with a gold choker from Cartier. It’s been six years since the Hannah Montana star attended the gala, but she clearly hasn’t missed a beat.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Megan Thee Stallion

When hot girl shit means channeling Hollywood’s golden age. Other attendees would be hard-pressed to beat her for most luxurious fur of the night, and a jeweled auburn hairdo serves as a fitting beehive crown. While posing for photos, Meg made sure to show off just how high that slit in her dazzling dress really goes — and the matching stilettos underneath it.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Sabrina Carpenter

Now that’s a show-stopping look. The singer wore a perfectly fitted burgandy bodysuit — designed by Pharrell Whilliams for Louis Vuitton — with a matching jacket with a long train that showed off legs for days. “He was like ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you,’” joked Carpenter of Pharrell’s ‘fit feedback. The Short n’ Sweet star wore her hair up in her signature butterfly cut look, but with an extra poof.

Theo Wargo/FilmMagic

Walton Goggins

Fresh off huge finales for The White Lotus and The Righteous Gemstones, Goggins looked to be having a blast twirling around in his kilt-like skirt, covered by a layered coat. Just the right amount of eccentric for this beloved character actor, the outfit may of been something a meta commentary on the gala’s sartorial theme, complete with a tailor’s stitches and marks. Unfinished by design but certainly worthy of the carpet.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Omar Apollo

Papi Omar Apollo upped the antics of a classic tuxedo with a leopard print top under his tails. The God Said No star paired the look with high-waisted pants with matching shoes. And why not? He added some highlights to his grown-out hair, and the classic Mexican-man goatee.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Doechii

Doechii has been teasing her Louis Vuitton collaboration for days, and she sure delivered in a short suit plastered with the LV monogram that even made an appearance on her right cheek. The Grammy-winning rapper told Vogue that she took direct inspiration from Monica Miller’s Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity for the beige look, which she came to with Pharrell. “It’s the biggest night in fashion. For it to be so Black? I’m present, I’m here,” she told the outlet, showing off her hair in an afro.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Cole Escola

What a week for Cole Escola! After their runaway hit play Oh! Mary earned five Tony nominations (including best actor for Escola) the theater and cabaret star graced the red carpet in a fitting, campy take on the theme: a floral pink and yellow suit from Christopher John Rogers and patent black pumps.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Cynthia Erivo

Sarah Burton — the new creative director of Givenchy — did not hold back as she designed Cynthia Erivo’s black corseted, bejeweled look at the Met Gala. While Erivo was no longer delivering the Wicked Witch of the West as she did on the Wicked run, she looked stunning (and a hint villanous) with her darker bedazzled top that matched her boots and flowy train.

Michael Loccisano/GA/The Hollywood Reporter/Getty Images

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross’ look earned 10s tonight, and would’ve gotten them as well in 2019 when the event’s theme was camp. The actress rocked oversized, structured pink pants with a massive hot pink bow as a belt, all designed by Marc Jacobs. The actress said the look delivered “animated joy and artistry” and accompanied the clothing design with a Stephen Jones violet hat. “I have chills all over my body,” Ellis Ross told Vogue.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Dua Lipa

Jet-black curls were just the finishing touch on the “Houdini” singer’s bewitching take on the flapper aesthetic. Plenty of diamonds complement a black dress offering Art Deco geometry and a ruffled skirt over a flowing train. The cropped, glittering jacket she took off while posing for the cameras added a distinctly Latin touch.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Demi Moore

The Substance actress may not have won an Oscar, but she is winning on the red carpet this year in a sequined black dress with white geometric details. The structured headpiece added drama, topped off with diamond dropped earrings for extra glamour.

Michael Loccisano/GA/The Hollywood Reporter/Getty Images

Valentina Ferrer and J Balvin

The kings of reggaeton are at the Met Gala tonight. J Balvin arrived rocking an oversized, pastel pink Marc Jacobs suit with matching hat with a silver broche on his left lapel. His look perfectly complemented his partner Valentina Ferrer, who strutted alongside him in a wine-colored, polka-dotted dress.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Nessa and Colin Kaepernick

The NFL quarterback-turned-civil rights activist came out for the occasion in a suitably dapper red-and-black plaid suit, and a cape concealing a more daring fuschia lining. But it’s those candy-apple shoes that really bring it altogether. Going for something different altogether, Colin’s wife Nessa wore a black puffer shawl that drew plenty of attention.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Couple coordination is in at the Met Gala. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra had a date night Monday as they posed for photos at the Met Gala red carpet, wearing matching cream looks. Jonas shared his outfit was created by Jamaican-British designer Bianca Saunders, whom Jonas called “such a vision.” Priyanka wore a cream dress with black polka dots as she celebrated the theme’s focus on “excellence and tailoring.”

John Shearer/WireImage

Lana Del Rey

She’s in her Valentino black dress tonight. Lana Del Rey wore a dress — with a velvet top adorned with a striking feather — straight off of the fashion brand’s couture collection. She strutted onto the carpet alongside Alessandro Michele, the fashion house’s creative director.

Michael Loccisano/GA/The Hollywood Reporter/Getty Images

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats

The music couples are serving the best looks of the evening. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats served coordinated pinstripe wine-colored suits at the Met Gala. Swizz wore a matching durag to his dark fitted suit, while Keys wore a beaded headdress to bring her look and a cape with the same print of her husband’s suit design.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Doja Cat

It’s all about the angle. Rapper Doja Cat, wearing Marc Jacobs, embraced the pinstripe trend, opting for a sparkly gold version of the pattern. But she paired this with outrageous animal print and boxy shoulder pads that nodded to 1980s excess. Her Afro and stiletto boots ensured a truly singular silhouette no matter where she stood.

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Jeff Goldblum

Always count on the great and powerful Oz to make an impression. Here, Jeff Goldblum proves that “dandy” isn’t just a costume for him — it’s a lifestyle. The fur-collared coat with a paisley interior and grandiose brooches is, quite frankly, a regal getup you might see him in any day of the year, so it’s nice that they threw this event where he can commune with people on his level.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Ayo Edebiri

Ayo Edebiri channeled her father and grandfather on the red carpet. The Bear actress wore a white dress with red beaded accents, reminiscent of classic Nigerian fashion. She accompanied the dress with a fitted floor-length leather jacket. “I was thinking about my connection to what dandyism means to me and the dandiest men in my life,” she told Vogue of the look designed by Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

FKA Twigs

FKA Twigs said she took inspiration from Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, and Josephine Baker who are “the epitome of female dandyism” to come up with the feathered, nude look designed by Grace Wales Bonner. “The perfect ingredient to all great art is an element of ‘stink’,” twigs told Vogue. “That’s what Josephine had: an attitude which attracted and repelled.”

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Willy Chavarria and Maluma

Considering all the Zoot Suits in the house, Maluma might’ve chosen the perfect Latino designer: Willy Chavarría. The Colombian reggaetonero walked the carpet with the Mexican American fashion star in coordinated pachuco-inspired suits: Chavarria wore pink, while Maluma opted for a blue-green suit and top hats to tie it all together. The Chicano-inspired ‘fits of the pachuco era took inspiration from the Black jazz world of the Twenties and Thirties, so Maluma and Chavarria perfectly added a Latino perspective to this year’s theme.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Lizzo

Half gangster, half femme fatale, Lizzo stepped right of a 1930s noir with extra-long nails and a cigarette holder that should become a permanent accessory. The flashy blonde locks and deep violet lipstick are choice accents for a deconstructed Christian Siriano garment whose black-and-cream palette could have been inspired by Cruella de Vil.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Shakira

Pretty in pink, but is she on theme? Shakira wore a gorgeous Prabal Gurung-designed crepe column gown with a gold, curvilinear design that accentuated the singer’s body, paired with a black lace glove. The Colombian star accompanied the Barbie-esque dress with a long, cape, reminiscent of Ariana Grande’s look at this year’s Oscars.

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer may be her generation’s ultimate multi-hyphonate — the podcaster and YouTube creator is also starring in the upcoming remake of The Burbs, and has an album coming later this year, too. She stunned in a white gown dripping with pearls over a pair of tailored black capri pants — proving she knows how to stay on theme.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Shaboozey

If he’s getting “Tipsy” tonight, it’s likely to be on champagne, not Jack Daniels. For a country star, Shaboozey had a surprisingly futuristic take on the Met Gala’s superfine theme, sporting an aquamarine grill, ring, watch, and torso’s worth of beads to offset a cropped black jacket with a trippy print and flouncy bow tie. The rakish hat adds a hint of UFO (complimentary).

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Rosalía

“I’m his mannequin!” Rosalía said, pointing at Olivier Rousteing, the French creative director of Balmain who made the custom look that is quite literally inspired by the mannequin. “It’s to honor his talent!” Rosalía wore her black hair back to to contrast with the fitted, plastic-looking bodice with a mermaid-style bottom of the dress.

Savion Washington/Getty Images

Madonna

These days, the Met Gala may be overrun with pop elite, but Madonna showed up in a 1940s-cut cream tuxedo to prove she’s still the original.

Theo Wargo/FilmMagic

Chance the Rapper and Donatella Versace

Well, it’s a “Tailored for You” party, and Chance the Rapper showed up with his tailor. Donatella Versace on his arm, he showcased a custom, loose-fitting, sand-colored suit from her legendary Italian house with a studded leather waistcoat and no shortage of shiny baubles. The designer herself wore a dress featuring ragged scales of black and silver.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

André 3000

No better place to promote your new album than the Met Gala red carpet — and using fashion to do it. The musician, who dropped surprise EP 7 Piano Sketches earlier today, posed for photos in a suit wearing a piano as if it were a backpack, holding a black trash bag in one hand, and a red hat on his head.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Chappell Roan

Is this David Bowie’s offspring? Chappell Roan channeled the rock great in a patchworked fuchsia bell-bottom suit as she made her Met Gala debut. The “Pink Pony Club” singer accompanied the ‘fit with a matching coat with tinseled, feathered accents. She also wore her signature drag-style makeup with pink facepaint, and her red hair wild.

Theo Wargo/FilmMagic

Janelle Monáe

Gala committee member Janelle Monáe has long served looks on the first Monday in May, and this year’s no different. With the help of designer Thom Browne and Oscar winning costume designer Paul Tazewell, the black, white, and red suit — paired with a monocle extending from her pin-stripe hat — adhered to the theme perfectly while showing off her usual edge. “Dandyism is pretty much a part of my fashion DNA through tailoring and suiting,” Monáe told the AP. “It fell right in line with who I am, and the people I want to bring with me that helped build this country.”

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Rosé

Rosé had none other than Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello create a tailor-made black tuxedo-cut jacket with chunky sleeves, and paired with wide-leg trousers, seemingly from the fashion brand’s Fall/Winder 2022 runway. “He specifically made this tuxedo fit for this look… He sent me with red heels,” the star told Vogue showing off her pumps.

Savion Washington/Getty Images

Future

The Atlanta rapper shocked some fans by showing up without his dreadlocks, having swapped them for shorter bleached curls, yet his threads were relatively understated: a hatched gray jumpsuit that had to be among the most comfortable items on display this year. With his shades, black tie, and leather driving gloves, he looked like he was ready for a clean getaway at any moment.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Clairo

No, you weren’t the only one who did a double-take when Clairo came through with Valentino Garavani’s Le Chat de La Maison clutch. The whimsical hand-painted accessory was quite the counterweight to a buttoned-up, semi-Victorian ensemble, though the black floral lace underneath was rather more revealing.

Michael Loccisano/GA/The Hollywood Reporter/Getty Images

Lisa

Lisa’s Met Gala look was full of details. The Blackpink star wore a tailored Louis Vuitton jacket over a bodysuit and lace tights adorned with a pearl chain belt. The singer’s bodysuit featured intricate portraits of iconic Black women stitched onto it by Henry Taylor, whom Pharrell Williams called a “genius,” per Vogue.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Cardi B

Which is the bigger power move: that mossy green, or the teased-up hair? Cardi B was a feast for the eyes, showing us (as though we needed reminding at this festival of forward fashion) that sometimes more is more. This wide-legged, 1970s-throwback Burberry design was just the thing for emphasizing a late, splashy entrance.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

Charli XCX

The Brat supreme has arrived! Charli XCX arrived in a custom Ann Demeulemeester look designed by Stefano Gallici. Chris Horan styled Charli’s look with a gorgeous feathered black cape, over a matching skirt and leather boots that feel aligned with the fashion she’s been delivering for her latest album era.

Savion Washington/Getty Images

Tyla

This South African star looks like a princess on the Met Gala red carpet. Tyla wore a custom Jacquemus, wide-pinstriped dress styled by Law Roach that took direct inspiration from Black fashion icon André Leon Talley. With the off-the-shoulder dress and long cape, the “Water” singer continues her streak of iconic red carpet looks after last year’s headline-making Balmain gown made of sand.

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Nicki Minaj

Another one to get the pinstripe memo, queen bee Nicki went for a two-piece that cinched at the knees and looked rather difficult to walk in. But there are moments when we have no choice but to suffer for fashion, and no doubt this is one of them. Turning her entire right shoulder and arm into the support structure for a gothic bouquet may present some other logistical challenges at dinner.

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Lauryn Hill

With a lot of the black-tie formalwear at the Met Gala, you might forget it’s actually spring in New York. No such worries with the iconic Lauryn Hill, who came to remind you that April showers bring May flowers. The buttery yellow suit and swirling petal of a hooded cape exude pure seasonal joy, and the intricate golden scepter is perhaps the only objet d’art that can match her otherworldly voice.

Desi hip-hop artists like Emiway Bantai, King, Shah Rule and Badshah have been acing their merch game.

Gone are the days when artist merch meant a generic T-shirt with a logo slapped on. You know, those cheap tees with a logo slapped on, the kind you’d wear to sleep or to the gym (if you even bothered to buy them).

Indian hip-hop changed the game. Now, merch isn’t just about supporting your favorite rapper, it’s about flexing your style, your attitude, and your place in the culture. From oversized hoodies that feel like a warm hug to tees that scream rebellion, India’s top rappers aren’t just making music; they’re building brands. Whether it’s Shah Rule and Dino James’ ‘Paapi’ collection, which channels raw energy, or Divine’s Gully Gang merch, which is basically a badge of street cred, these aren’t just clothes; they’re statements. And the best part of their merch is that they actually look good.

So if you’ve been sleeping on India’s rap merch revolution, it’s time to wake up. We’re breaking down the hottest drops from the country’s biggest hip-hop names because trust us, your wardrobe needs an upgrade.

Shah Rule & Dino James – Paapi Merch

Shah Rule and Dino James are two of the most versatile voices in Indian rap, and their latest merch drop is proof that music and fashion go hand in hand. Their Paapi merch, launched in collaboration with MyFandom, is making waves for all the right reasons. The collection is bold, rebellious, and unapologetic, just like their music. Their collection includes a Black “कमीना” tee, which is a head-turner, featuring bold Devanagari script in a deep red color.

The other one from the collection is a White “Paapi” tee, which is clean yet bold and features “Paapi” written in a Gothic-style deep red font on the chest. The design is deceptively simple but carries weight — “Paapi” (sinner) reflects the album’s themes of struggle, survival, and self-reflection. The oversized fit gives it a relaxed, effortlessly stylish feel, perfect for fans who love understated yet statement-making fashion.

Karan Kanchan – Neck Wreck Crew

If there’s one producer who’s redefining bass music and aggressive rap beats in India, it’s Karan Kanchan. Known for his mosh-pit energy and headbanger-worthy anthems, Kanchan has taken things a step further with his Neck Wreck Crew merch with his Quadscore team. And trust us, it’s not just another rap T-shirt drop, it’s an entire movement.

The collection is for those who love high-energy, adrenaline-pumping music. From graphic-heavy designs that feature loud, punk-inspired elements to minimal logo-based pieces, this collection has something for every streetwear enthusiast. Inspired by heavy metal, Japanese culture, and underground hip-hop aesthetics, this merch line represents the unique style that Kanchan has championed in his music. One of the key pieces from the collection is tie-dye tee, which features a high-contrast print of their brand’s typography.

Emiway Bantai – EB Store

If there’s anyone who knows how to keep it real and independent, it’s Emiway Bantai. His EB Store merch is as raw and energetic as his music, catering to fans who want a piece of his no-nonsense attitude. The collection features oversized hoodies, bold typography, and clean yet statement-driven designs. One of the bestsellers is their EB Signature Hoodie, featuring a minimalistic yet powerful logo with “Bantai” scrawled across the back in graffiti-style font. His street-ready T-shirts sport edgy graphics and lyrics from his tracks, making them perfect for those who live and breathe his music. For anyone who follows Emiway’s journey from an underground rapper to a global name, his merchandise isn’t just clothing, it’s a badge of loyalty to his independent hustle.

King – Champagne Talk Merch

King’s Champagne Talk merch isn’t just about looking good, it’s about oozing confidence. Just like his music, the collection has a smooth, luxury-inspired aesthetic while keeping the streetwear vibe intact. The signature Champagne Talk tee features sleek typography and his name logo, giving off that effortless “boss energy.” The hoodies come in deep-toned colorways like navy, maroon, and forest green, designed to match the smooth and stylish vibe King brings to his music. If you’re someone who walks into a room and owns it, King’s Champagne Talk merch is exactly what you need to match that energy.

Divine – Gully Gang Merchandise

When Divine said, “Apna time aayega,” he wasn’t just talking about his music, he was building a whole empire. His Gully Gang merch has become a staple in Indian streetwear, with designs that echo Mumbai’s underground rap movement. The collection features oversized tees, classic Gully Gang logo pieces, and bold graphic prints inspired by street culture. One of the standout pieces is the Gully Gang jacket, featuring embroidered patches and a sleek monochrome design. Their OG logo hoodie, with its bold black-and-white design, is another fan favorite. Gully Gang merch isn’t just about wearing a brand, it’s about repping an entire movement that started from the streets and took over the mainstream.

Badshah – Badfit Clothing

Badfit T is all about stylish, premium streetwear, reflecting his larger-than-life personality. Unlike most artist merch, Badfit isn’t just about being a rapper’s side hustle, it’s a serious fashion brand in its own right. The collection includes bold graphic tees, cozy oversized hoodies, and effortlessly cool joggers. The fan favorites include The Wave Hoodie, featuring a slick embroidered logo with a wavy design that symbolizes movement and energy. The Badfit Signature tee, with its clean typography and subtle branding, is another must-have. If you’re into sleek, high-quality streetwear that makes a statement, Badfit is your go-to.

Diljit Dosanjh Levi's Newest Brand Ambassador

Levi’s has announced Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh as its newest brand ambassador, making him the first Punjabi artist to join the brand’s legendary lineup of global music icons.

The announcement follows the massive success of the “Lover” singer’s Dil-Luminati tour last year, which saw sold-out arenas and an outpouring of love from fans worldwide.

Bowen Yang

Although he wasn’t nominated in his own right on Sunday night, Bowen Yang showed up and showed out on the 2025 Oscars red carpet in a light pink button-down shirt with ruffles and a shiny black suit jacket decorated with floral embroideries. Yang appeared in Wicked, playing one of Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) best friends, which is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture tonight.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande, whose performance as Glinda earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2025 Oscars, floated on the red carpet in a light pink gown. Channeling the energy and aesthetic of her Wicked character, Grande stunned in a dress with a structured, satin bustier on top and sparkling tulle flowing beneath.

Jeff Goldblum

Wicked’s Wizard of Oz, a.k.a. Jeff Goldblum, made his appearance on Sunday’s Oscars red carpet dressed in a cream-colored suit jacket, and floral dress shirt. Goldbum snuck accents of purple into his outfit, including a lavender scarf and purple boutonnière.

Cynthia Erivo

Nominated for Best Actress on Sunday, Cynthia Erivo showed up to the Oscars red carpet continuing to honor the Wicked theme in a deep green velvet gown. Erivo’s structured, floor-length dress with its bold shoulders perfectly suited her character, Elphaba, and made it look as if she’s on her way to take over Emerald City. Of course, it wouldn’t be a signature Erivo fashion moment without dramatic nails and a collection of gorgeous rings and earrings.

Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo is channeling the theatrics of tonight’s most dramatic nominated films. The musician, who made his acting debut in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, arrived on the carpet with rosy cheeks and dark eyes peeking out from beneath a black birdcage veil. The headpiece serves as the centerpiece of the outfit, complete with a sleek black suit — adorned with a quaint lizard brooch — paired with a cream polka-dot scarf styled as a tie to match his black polka-dot dress shirt.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning embodied Sylvie Russo in A Complete Unknown, nominated for eight awards tonight, with a wardrobe of cool fits as Timotheé Chalamet’s Bob Dylan drove her mad. But for the Oscars, she opted for princess-like glamour in a white lace gown with a contrasting black bow across her waistline. With her hair pinned up, her neckline glistened with a scalloped diamond necklace, a true reflection of the music royalty Russo almost was.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling dazzled on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday. Adorned head to toe in silver, Kaling — who’s recently spent more time behind the scenes producing shows such as The Sex Lives of College Girls and Running Point rather than being in front of the camera — walked the red carpet in a mock neck, fluttery gown, accessorized with silver rings and chandelier earrings.

Zoe Saldaña

In Emilia Peréz, the most nominated film of the night, Zoe Saldaña delivers a pivotal musical number in a deep red Saint Laurent suit. The Best Supporting Actress nominee arrived to the Academy Awards red carpet in a three-tiered Saint Laurent gown evoking the same striking color. For an added edge, the dress features a glimmering, netted bandeau and black mesh gloves.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o has become red carpet royalty in the decade since she won her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Though she isn’t nominated tonight, this year is no different. The actress walked the red carpet in a pleated, soft cream Chanel gown. The top of the dress is adorned with the brand’s signature pearls and a glamorous, pearlescent corset with a dainty bow around her waist.

Demi Moore

Demi Moore looks stunning at tonight’s Academy Awards, and she didn’t even have to take The Substance. Nominated for Best Actress at tonight’s ceremony, Moore is wearing a silver gown custom designed by Armani Privé. The stone-like looking dress features a deep cut neckline and ruching around the waist, all highlighting the intricate beading covering every inch of the fabric down to its pooled train.

Selena Gomez

Elegant as ever in a shimmering custom Ralph Lauren gown, Selena Gomez graced the Oscars red carpet exuding an Old Hollywood aura. Gomez co-stars in the controversial Emilia Pérez, which earned 13 nominations. Per Vogue, the actress’ off-the-shoulder dress included more than 16,000 glass droplets and crystals that were also airbrushed to appear pink ombré in color. She completed the look with a diamond collar necklace, rings, and earrings.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet pulled up to the Oscars just as he has every other award show this season: smooth like butter. He kept it light with a custom Givenchy yellow leather suit paired with a matching yellow dress shirt and a small pearl collar pin. They say to dress for the job you want — and Chalamet sure is dressed like he’s channeling an Oscars trophy. Nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, he would be the youngest-ever winner in the category if he secures the win.

Raye

Grammy Award-nominated singer and songwriter Raye will take the stage at the Academy Awards for the first time tonight. But first, the “Oscar Winning Tears” singer channeled Old Hollywood on the carpet in a red Vivienne Westwood gown. The glamorous off-the-shoulder dress features a layered corset and flows down into waves of mesh.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus graced the Oscars red carpet on Sunday dressed in a long black gown with a high neckline. With matching black lace gloves, Cyrus channeled a classic glamorous look with her signature edge.

Colman Domingo

The King of the Carpet has arrived: Colman Domingo looks sleek and confident in custom Valentino. The Sing Sing star and Best Actor nominee is wearing a rich red suit jacket with black lapels paired with black pants. The bold red pops against royal gold accessories, including a unique tassel bracelet piece, and red-tinted glasses.

Jeremy Strong

Jeremy Strong, whose role in The Apprentice earned him an Oscar nomination on Sunday night for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, showed up to the red carpet in a classic taupe-brown suit. The clean-cut look was completed with an unconventional bow tie.

H.E.R.

H.E.R., who won the 2021 Academy Award for Best Original Song, arrived at the 2025 Oscars red carpet in a stunning gold, flowing gown, which featured a matching metallic belt and sparkling bodice. The singer-songwriter wore layers of chokers around her neck, alternating between gold and silver.
